PFL1

The FloPath PFL1 is a portable pressure and flow data logger developed by MOBILTEX Data Ltd., a Canadian manufacturer headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, with over 40 years of experience in instrumentation for pressurized pipeline monitoring. Originally launched under the GCRTech brand and now part of the FloPath line, the unit builds on the field-proven design of the PTRI/TRI loggers to give water utilities a rugged tool for capturing hydraulic data.

The PFL1 provides 2 channels: one pulse flow input and one pressure/analog input, with an internal or external pressure transducer. Data is stored in 2 MB of non-volatile flash memory organized into 8 independent data files (6 files of 60,000 readings and 2 files of 250,000 readings), each with its own start/stop time, sampling rate and logging rate. Several files can record different data types —average, instantaneous, minimum and maximum— for the same channel simultaneously.

Unlike conventional loggers, the PFL1 combines IP68 submersible protection, a potted plastic enclosure of only 95 × 65 × 40 mm and a battery life of more than 5 years under normal operation. Pressure accuracy is optimized through multi-point calibration, and logged data can be recalibrated before, during or after recording. Memory retains data for up to 10 years even if the battery fails, and the flow channel logs forward and reverse flow on meters with bidirectional output.

Local communication uses a non-contact IrDA infrared link at 115,200 baud, which also enables field firmware upgrades. The unit includes FPLog Lite software for programming, downloading and graphing data, and is compatible with major flow meters equipped with a digital pulse output. Within the FloPath ecosystem, the PFL1 serves as a portable diagnostic tool that complements permanent cellular-connected loggers (FloPath PFM1) and the FloPath.Cloud platform.
