Compact high-resolution ground penetrating radar (GPR) for locating shallow metallic and non-metallic utilities, with a 500 MHz UWB antenna, up to 3 m (10 ft) depth and depth slices
The LMX150™ FINDAR® is a compact, high-resolution ground penetrating radar (GPR) for buried utility locating and mapping, marketed by Radiodetection and developed by Sensors & Software, a Canadian manufacturer specializing in GPR systems. It belongs to the LMX® family and is focused on locating shallow and small-diameter utilities, where resolution matters more than depth.
The unit transmits radar pulses into the ground through a patented 500 MHz ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and records the reflections produced by changes in subsurface properties. Its higher frequency, compared with the 250 MHz of the LMX100 and LMX200, delivers higher resolution with a scanning depth of up to 3 m (10 ft) and a 0.02 m (50 traces/m) step size. It detects metallic utilities, non-metallic pipes made of PVC and asbestos cement, concrete storm and sewer pipes, utilities with failed tracer wire and fiber optic cables.
In addition to real-time locate and mark, the LMX150 FINDAR includes Grid Scan mode, which guides collection of preset grids with obstacle avoidance, and processes the data into in-field depth slices, even across multiple grids. DynaT™ (dynamic target enhancement) and DynaQ® (dynamic stacking), together with color-coded on-screen interpretations, increase target identification confidence.
The system integrates a GPS receiver to geo-reference data and supports an optional external GPS, which unlocks MapView and SplitView and geo-referenced KMZ and CSV export for use in GIS or CAD software. Weighing 19 kg (41 lb) with battery and built on a compact fiberglass cart, its data can be further analyzed with the optional EKKO_Project™ software, which produces PDF reports.
