Ground penetrating radar (GPR) for locating metallic and non-metallic buried utilities, with a 250 MHz UWB antenna, up to 8 m (26 ft) depth and in-field depth slices
The LMX200™ is a ground penetrating radar (GPR) designed and optimized for buried utility locating, marketed by Radiodetection and developed by Sensors & Software, a Canadian manufacturer specializing in GPR systems. It belongs to the LMX® family and is its most advanced model, designed to complement electromagnetic pipe and cable locators in the locate-and-mark workflow.
The unit transmits radar pulses into the ground through a patented 250 MHz ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and records the reflections produced by changes in subsurface properties. This principle allows it to detect metallic utilities as well as non-metallic pipes made of PVC and asbestos cement, concrete storm and sewer pipes, and utilities whose tracer wire has failed, balancing resolution with depth penetration of up to 8 m (26 ft) in suitable ground conditions.
Unlike a conventional electromagnetic locator, the LMX200 does not require the utility to be conductive or energized with a signal. It includes Grid Scan mode to collect grids and process them into in-field depth slices, MapView with SplitView to display the survey path in real time, and color-coded on-screen interpretations. DynaT™ (dynamic target enhancement) and DynaQ® (dynamic stacking based on survey speed) improve target visibility and data quality.
The system integrates a GNSS receiver to geo-reference data and supports an optional external GPS for higher accuracy. It exports lines, grids, interpretations and screenshots in GPZ, KMZ, CSV and JPG formats for use in CAD and GIS software, and creates on-site Wi-Fi mini reports. Data can be further analyzed with the optional EKKO_Project™ software, which produces PDF summary reports.
